Resolute earns top marks for sustainability leadership
On July 17, 2018, Resolute won a Business Intelligence Group (BIG) Sustainability Leadership Award in the Organization category. The Sustainability Awards are presented annually by BIG to organizations and individuals who have made sustainability an integral part of their business practice, and who deliver on their sustainability commitments. Resolute received the highest rating for our comprehensive sustainability strategy, which is designed to enhance our competitive position. This is the second consecutive year Resolute has been recognized in this category.
Gannett Supplier of the Year Award
Ponderay mill honored for offering quality products and service
On July 11, 2018, the Ponderay newsprint mill, located in Usk (Washington), was presented with the Supplier of the Year award for 2017 by Gannett, a leading U.S. media and marketing company. The mill was chosen for the high quality of the product and service it offers Gannett, as well as for its commitment to the environment through its sustainability certifications.
FPAC Outstanding Member Award
Resolute’s Pascale Lagacé honored for her contribution to the forest products industry
On May 23, 2018, the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) presented Pascale Lagacé, Resolute’s vice president of Environment, Energy and Innovation, with an Outstanding Member of the Year Award for 2017-2018. FPAC commended Pascale for her work in several areas, particularly her role in positioning the forest products industry as a key player in Canada’s emerging bioeconomy.
Ontario Power Generation Health and Safety Award
Resolute’s Scott Manford recognized for building a strong safety culture
On May 21, 2018, Scott Manford, health and safety superintendent at our Atikokan (Ontario) sawmill, received the Ontario Power Generation Health and Safety Award at the annual Atikokan Chamber of Commerce Business Awards ceremony. Scott has been responsible for recruiting new workers and overseeing their training since the construction of the sawmill in 2014, and has helped shape the facility’s strong safety culture.
Manufacture Alabama Safety Achievement Award
Coosa Pines recognized for superior workplace safety performance
On March 14, 2018, Resolute’s Coosa Pines pulp mill was honored by Manufacture Alabama and the Alabama Department of Labor for its superior 2017 safety performance. The recognition is given to mills that operate the most hours with the fewest recordable incidents. Coosa Pines won the award in the paper manufacturing category (facilities with 251-500 employees) and also received a certificate signed by Governor Kay Ivey for completing 2017 with no lost-time incidents. This is the third consecutive year Manufacture Alabama, the state’s manufacturing trade association, has recognized our Coosa Pines operation at its annual Safety Achievement Awards, and the second time the mill has taken top honors.
