NOBA Awards
Thunder Bay sawmill is judges’ choice
Resolute’s Thunder Bay sawmill team was presented with the Judges’ Choice Award on October 1, 2015, at the 29th annual Northern Ontario Business Awards (NOBA) gala in Thunder Bay. This recognition celebrates both the addition of a wood pellet plant at the sawmill site and the long-standing business relationship the mill has developed with the Fort William First Nation, which owns the land on which Resolute operates. The facility also employs many Aboriginal peoples among its 200 workers.

MerComm ARC Awards
Excellence in Annual Reporting
Resolute earned two bronze awards in October 2015 at the prestigious MerComm Annual Report Competition (ARC): one in the annual report with Form 10-K category and the other in the design/graphics online annual report category. These two awards recognize Resolute’s leadership in developing a combined annual report that includes both financial and sustainability information. MerComm’s Annual Report Competition is a globally recognized international competition honoring outstanding achievement in annual reporting.

Canadian Chamber of Commerce Canada’s Resource Champions
Resolute’s Roger Barber named one of Canada’s resource champions
Roger Barber, our general manager – Ontario Woodlands, was named a resource champion by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in October 2015. Canada’s Resource Champions Awards were created to recognize and highlight outstanding efforts by organizations and individuals who have helped to support the country’s world-class resource industry, focusing on public engagement, Aboriginal development, and innovative processes to reduce environmental impacts.

Managing Risk
Leadership in safety management earns Resolute an award
In September 2015, RISI’s Pulp and Paper International (PPI) presented Resolute with an award in the managing risk category. This prize honors true innovation in a company’s approach to loss prevention, safety and risk management. Resolute’s winning entry highlighted the company’s safety management system and focus on safety as a core value. Resolute was also a finalist in the bio strategy of the year category. The PPI awards are the only global awards dedicated to recognizing and celebrating excellence in the pulp and paper sector.

Canada’s Clean50
Clean50 kudos for Pascale Lagacé, Jim Balik, Mylène Labrie and Alice Minville
On September 22, 2015, Pascale Lagacé, Resolute’s vice president of Environment and Climate Change, was named to Canada’s prestigious Clean50 awards for 2016. Pascale and the Resolute Team, which includes Jim Balik, manager, Environment – U.S. Pulp and Paper Operations, Mylène Labrie, analyst, Environment and Climate Change, and Alice Minville, senior legal counsel – with strong support from Resolute President and CEO Richard Garneau – have helped drive a cultural shift that has been embraced by all employees throughout the company. The award recognizes leaders who have made the greatest contributions to sustainable development or “clean capitalism” in Canada. This is the second year in a row that Resolute has received this honor.
